Portugal WRC: Meeke closes on win, Mikkelsen moves into second
Kris Meeke will take a lead of 35.5 seconds into the final two stages of Rally Portugal, as Andreas Mikkelsen displaced teammate Sebastien Ogier as the Citroen driver's nearest challenger. Meeke, who is chasing only his second WRC win, was third fastest in both Sunday morning runs, which were topped by Volkswagen driver Mikkelsen. That allowed the Norwegian to pass Ogier in the overall classification to sit second with a buffer of 8.1s over his championship-leading teammate. Hyundai's Dani Sordo continues to hold fourth, 1m35s off the lead, while Jari-Matti Latvala sliced 20 seconds off Eric Camilli's advantage in the battle for fifth, the pair still split by 46 seconds.
