Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen Polo R)After a good result in Monte-Carlo, Sweden was Latvala’s chance to throw down the championship gauntlet to Sébastien Ogier. But he was ill-at-ease in the first leg as the Polo R wouldn’t turn in as he wanted. Still, he was less than 3.0sec behind Ogier when he ditched it near the end of SS9 and lost 8min 30sec. Outside the points, he retired at final service, but thinks he made a breakthrough with the set-up at the rear.
