Ten second penalty costs Mikkelsen
Andreas Mikkelsen had to settle for fourth on Rally Australia this weekend after picking up a ten-second penalty on the final day. The Volkswagen Motorsport II pilot trailed Citroen's Kris Meeke by 8.8s at the end of the second leg and closed the gap to 4.2s on the opening loop on Sunday. However, he was then penalised after he was a minute late checking into service G. He eventually finished 5.9s back. Despite missing out on his seventh podium of the year though, the Norwegian insisted he was pleased with his form over the three-days in Coffs Harbour. “I am totally happy with our performance and had a really good rally – it was one of the best performances we have ever done,”...
